Memphis basketball looks set to make a move in 2021-22 with nine newcomers, including two of the top prospects in the 2021 class that decided to re-class up and hit the college basketball landscape a year early. Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren headline head coach Penny Hardaway’s No. 1 nationally ranked 2021 recruiting class as he heads into Year 4 of his tenure.
Hardaway is coming off a 20-8 campaign and a 2021 NIT Championship. This season, with a slew of new faces, they look to make a lot more noise with Bates and Duren leading the charge. While there should be some early growing pains, things should be interesting for Memphis basketball by December. Here’s a look at the Tigers 2021 recruiting class.
9. John Camden
John Camden is a three-star prospect and the first freshman name to know in Memphis basketball’s 2021 class. He joins the roster as the No. 143 ranked prospect in the nation at 6-foot-8, 195 pounds out of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.
He’s a prospect with nice instincts on the wing/perimeter that can knock down the 3-ball with range. He does well to move well without the ball and uses an array of shot fakes and nice footwork to make teams pay with his range on the perimeter.
